The Society of Africanist Archaeologists (SAfA) is an organization of archaeologists, researchers from associated disciplines and others who share an interest in African archaeology and African societies. The membership is international, with participation from Africa, the Americas, Europe and Asia, and is actively involved in research in all of Africa.

The Congress will take place at the Université Jean Jaurès (Metro station Mirail-Université). The Mirail-Université station is on line A (direction Basso Cambo), which also serves the centre of Toulouse. Estimate 15 minutes by Metro between the centre of the city and Mirail-Université (more informations).


Launching of the SAfA 2016 web site: 30 June 2015

On this site you will find essential information regarding the dates, location and program of the SAfA 2016 Meeting. The Call for Session Proposals is also open: researchers wishing to organize a session have until 30 October to do so. For the themes (unlimited) retained for the Congress and the Session Proposal Form, click here. Attention: registration for presentations and posters is not yet open, but everyone interested can already subscribe for information from the site to be kept continually informed.

Posting of sessions approved and Call for Presentations and Posters: 30 November 2015

The sessions approved by the local organization committee will be posted on the site on 30 November. At the same time, the Call for Presentations and Posters will be open, with a deadline of 10 March. Each author of a presentation should indicate if she or he would like to be included in one of the proposed sessions. Attention: The local organization committee will accept only one presentation per person as first author, and not more than 3 presentations total as author or co-author. Registration (with an early registration discount) will also open on 30 November and information about means of transport, accommodation and dining, as well as excursions, will be available on the site. The possibilities of student subsidies will also be specified on 30 November.
